Cisco6509E epagp with distribution stack

Hi all

I've a core switch composed from two Cisco6509-E with rel.12.2(33)SXH8
I need to do a Dual-Active detection mode
I can't use the Dual-Active Fast hello because the core's release is too old.
So I would like to use the distrubution switches connected to the core and realize a ePAGP alternative solution.
The distribution switches are working in stackable mode and are not in VSS mode.
Their uplink toward the core are distribute on different switches of the stack.

My question is : Is it possible use ePagp configuration between stack in VSS mode (core) and switches in stack non-VSS mode ?

Thank's in advance and have a nice day

Hi,

The stack switches don't support ePAGP, only standalone switches do. See below:

Virtual Switching System
Enhanced PAgP Support and Configuration
ePAgP requires PAgP protocol to be operational on MEC enabled interfaces
PAgP is supported in all platforms except 37xx stack configuration where cross-stack EtherChannel
(LACP) is required to have MEC connectivity with VSS. Standalone 35xx and 37xx do support PAgP
and thus ePAgP.

Fabrizio,

Thanks for the rating and marking it as solved.

Good luck!

BTW, that IOS on your 6500 is very very old. It is almost 15 years old.
