Your help is much appriciated..thanks.

What switch series and model do you have?

What IOS version?

also can you provide more detail on the issue?

Hi,

(C2950-I6Q4L2-M), Version 12.1(22)EA4

The Access point is down and I reset the interface and clear the

counters on the interface as well but it come online. I would like to

know how the clear interface fasethernet works and how its effect (As I

see clear hardware logic). Could you please let me know what will be

effect of this command.

I have available options..to make the access point up..

1. I can talk to site and pull the cable....

2. I can take backup config and erese and wr once again with duplex and

speed..on the switchport.

3. Reboot the access point.

But however, I would like to know do we have option to soft reboot the

fastethernet interface. Like service-module in the router.just an

example. Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Bala

Hi,

To reset an interface, enter into interface configuration mode and issue the 'shutdown' and 'no shutdown' commands. This will bring the interface down then up like as you would reconnect the cable physically.

Switch# conf term

Switch(config)# interface FastEthernet0/1

Switch(config-int)# shutdown

Switch(config-int)# no shutdown

To clear the interface counters, use the 'clear counters FastEthernet0/1' command or 'clear counters' to reset the counters on all interfaces.

This is not my expected question was about I already used them. I would like to know how the clear interface int-id works. Pls help me with the same.

"default interface "  will clear all non-default configs.
