%COMMON_TAL-3-HOSTBITSSET Error

I get a error on my 3750x Switch.

%COMMON_TAL-3-HOSTBITSSET: Host bits set for 127.0.0.0/7.  -Trackback= xxxxxx xxxxxxx

Can anybody help me find out what this is related to?

Trace back can indicates a software issue , what version of code are you on ?

are you having any issues or did this just appear in logs

I'm running 15.2(4)E UNIVERSAL...K9-M

I have 20 of this type of errors a day. Do have some slow link problems on the switch.
I don't know if it is related to this error.

That's an ED release you should try avoid them when possible , I have checked the caveats the bug is unknown in release guide below and the recommended version for that switch is 15.0.2-SE9(MD)   Just because its not there does not mean its not a bug you may have hit something that was just never raised for that version with them

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/lan/catalyst3750x_3560x/software/release/15-2_4_e/releasenotes/rn-1524e-3750x3560x.html

You have 2 options really go to TAC they will tell you what ios version it does not exist in or second go to the recommended safe harbour image 15.0.2 which they will probably advise anyway

If I understand corectlly what MD and ED status of releases do mean.

I can safely use version 15.2.2E4, becuase actully it has MD status.

Am I right ?

Or do I need to still open the case ?

Hi MD is main deployment more tested then and ED early deployment , MD always preferred over an ED so you could take a chance with that , the best image is always the safe harbour that's put through the most testing possible usually

Ok, if I upgrade the switch with 15.2.2E4 release and the bug will appear again. Do I have good chance to open TAC case and demand a solution from Cisco, because their MD release still has this bug ? :-)

if you go to the latest version and the  bug is there your stuck with it until the DE write a fix , this can take from a month to 3 months depending on severity and who's effected , you will be put on a list and notified when its released , that's the way they work

Ok thank you. It helps me.
