Conditional QOS Trust based on LLDP instead of CDP?

Is it possible to conditionally trust the QoS of incoming frames/packets on a switchport by detecting a device via LLDP instead of CDP on that port?  I suppose I could use smartport macros for something like this, but it seems like a simple qos setting like "mls qos trust device lldp-phone" option would be handy.

Also, does anybody know if there's a more recently updated SRND (or whatever they're called now) for enterprise QoS?  This one is almost 6 years old.  Sure it's got a lot of good info, but there must be newer guides.

Any reason why you are hesitant to use Smartport ...It will take care of simple qos configs
