Hi,
Would like to ask the root cause on why our Nexus 7000 becomes default configuration after we reload the device. The reason we reload the Nexus 7K is that we encountered issue when saving the config. Thanks

Hi
did you have a console connected to it and collect the logs as it was reloading that may have the answer in it why it didn't save , it may be difficult to confirm what happened without the logs
did you check the show startup before rebooting it ?
what way are you saving the config using copy run start or using an alias with wr ?
when you were trying to save id you see any warnings or anything in logs to say it wasn't working right

Hi Mark,
we do have the backups before we reload. When we try to perform copy run start, it is not saving. Our colleague said that we need to upgrade the NX-OS or perform the reload to correct the issue. We perform reload but the issue arise, we put the config on all vdc and now working even the saving is now working.
we configure alias on the wr for copy run start. Before we reload even wr or copy run start.

hi
definitely sounds like you hit a bug alright there was a few in versions related to copy run start issues as below causing multiple issues , we did hit something a year or two ago very similar and we did each Nexus in the VPC domain one at a time to avoid complete outage
Looking at your file the startup was completely wiped from flash and there was nothing for the switch to load
Im checking your version against open caveats to see if something like this is listed online

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the analysis, as of now we are not allowed to perform NX-OS upgrade that's why we perform only reload just to fix immediately the issue. We are still in the same NX-OS.
We are still unsure on what is the reason behind the config to wiped after the reload.

Personally I would advise you to open with TAC to get the exact bug id what caused this but the fix most likely will be move to a newer release
these are the open caveats listed by Cisco for that release
I do see something similar but it states its fixed in your release but that sometimes means nothing I have seen bugs that state fixed but are still present in the software
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/sw/6_x/nx-os/release/notes/62_nx-os_release_note.html#pgfId-1105369
Symptom: Switch powers up with no configuration.
Conditions: When the "copyrunning-config startup-config" command was entered, it was terminated abnormally.
