configuration of NM-16ESW on 3725

Hi all,

I use to configure network module NM-16ESW, but it doesn't work when this NM is inserted into 3725 IOS12.3(10).

I would like to configure port as follows:

interface FastEthernet2/13

description WAN to Suez over 1620

no switchport access vlan

ip address x.X.X.X 255.255.255.0

no shutdown

clns router isis djibouti

isis metric 3

end

I've got the following error message in conf mode:

djibrt103(config-if)#no switchport access vlan

djibrt103(config-if)#ip address 10.105.104.17 255.255.255.0

% IP addresses may not be configured on L2 links.

djibrt103(config-if)#

The NM-16ESW is Layer 2 Network Module card. You can only config IP address in vlan interface.Please read the Document as following.

But I disagree with you because, I have exactly the same board "NM-16ESW" inserted into a 2911 (with SM-NM adpator).

The following configuration perfectly works:

interface FastEthernet1/8
 no switchport
 ip address 10.103.30.2 255.255.255.248
 ip ospf cost 30
!

I'm wondering if the board features depend on the IOS ??
