Configuring HSRP on a 3560 Switch

It is my understanding that you can only configure HSRP in the Vlan Interface on a 3560 Catalyst Switch. If this is correct than the ip default-gateway is not needed since by ip addresses are the same?

Hi!

You are correct, the necessity of ip default-gateway is only for administrative issues in L2 switches, Catalyst 3560 is L3, thus there is a routing process in order to maintain comunication between networks segments.

The virtual ip addres in HSRP is the same for the configuration in group of routers at the vlan interfaces.

Regards!
