Hi all

i'm looking for some assistance into how to get two Cisco routers on different subnets to go out the same WAN

Cisco 1841 with a 3G HWIC (WAN)

Cisco 881

Network Layout

Cisco 1841 - 192.168.153.0/24

FE0/1 - 192.168.153.254/24

Cisco 881 - 192.168.152.0/24

FE0/4 - 192.168.153.253/24

VLAN40 - 192.168.152.254

FE0 - Trunk port linking got a Cisco Switch

i can ping from 192.168.153,254 to 192.168.153.253

on the 1841 i can ping to the internet 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS)

i can't ping from the 881 to the internet or the 192.168.153.0 range

any ideas how to resolve this ?

thanks

Justin

Hello Justin,

Would you be able to create a diagram of your situation?

Also i dont see any public ip's on any of your interface's, how do you connect to the internet?

So this is your setup?

We need to see a copy of your configs really.

What is the purpose of using two routers out of interest as the one in the middle appears to be doing very little?

First off, you need to establish how far each packet gets using ping and traceroute. Run a traceroute from the 192.168.152.0 network to 8.8.8.8 and see how far the packets are getting, i.e what the last hop is.

You seem to have connected the 1841 to the 881 via the built in L2 switchports. Can you show us the config for the IP addressing on these?

Thanks

hi Devils

yes that looks like my setup exactly

192.168.152.0/24 range is the current range

and we want to introduce a new range 192.168.153.0/24 without messing with the current setup or router config for the 192.168.152.0/24 range

i'll perform those pings and traceroutes in the morning and post the outcomes

881 connects to the 1841 FE/4 on the 881 to the FE0/1 on the 1981

thanks

Justin

Justin,

We need to see your configs on both the routers, 1841 for sure. At the first sight it looks like some NAT related issue but we need to check the config. Please paste the configs.
