Hi folks,
I though this project would be easy!? I had not dealt with wireless connection.extending to wire before so, I got stuck. I have a linksysE4500 wireless router connecting to the Internet and no problem. Now, I am trying to put a Cisco 3750 48 ports, PPoE in between this wireless router (has 5 ether ports too) and the provider.
best I can explain, this wireless router is used by users with laptops and printer, sec. cam and also as WiFi for mobiles in this small office. it also acts as the DHCP server.
I have configured the Cisco 3750 and posted my configuration here. I wanted to have multiple vlans for users, for another wireless router (for guests) and for security cams, so I installed this Cisco Switch. I am dealing with one vlan now but switch cannot see the wireless router and vice versa and rightly so.
the linksys wireless router, has the /24 private IPs and assigns IPs to users and devices. in the connectivity section of this router, I must type all the provider's routeble IP addresses and gateway so it connects to the Internet BUT i need to do the same to the Switch as well as shown in the configuration file attached.
wireless router has the following options in the Internet connectivity section:
static ======that I am using
L2TP
PPoE
rbridge
and few more options.
I believe that I must not use the "static" option as it doesn't work when connected to the switch and it shouldn't.
I think, rbridge or other protocol listed must be used but I have not done that before and I am not sure how to use and which one to use.
I also want to keep the wireless linksys router as the DHCP server even when the switch in connected and working properly while sitting between the linksys and the provider.
I would appreciate any help that you folks can please extend to me to get this done.
I do not have any problems configuring wired networks small to large sizes but I am stuck on this!
Best Regards,
Masood

change of plan. since I do not have FW, I will bring the switch 3750 inside and hang it off one of the ether ports on the Linksys. this way we will have some protection as the linksys does NAT and other stuff. just to keep thing simple. this way I can create a vlan using one of the public IP addresses and an IP default route statement.
SO, i will see how it will work out!?
Thanks folks.
