Connection between SFP GLC-GE-100FX and WS-G5484-1000BaseSX

Good afternoon.

I can't set physical connection between cisco ws2960c-48tc-s (by sfp glc-GE-100FX) and cisco ws-c3550-48 (by gbic ws-g5484-1000baseSX).

3550:

interface gigabit ethernet0/1 (PS: 1000Base SX)

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

2960:

interface gigabit ethernet0/1 (PS: 100Base FX)

switchport mode trunk

media-type sfp

But i have no green light (without light) on gigabit ports of catalysts.

I did not found information about ports of 2960c-48tc-s. 100Mbit or 1 Gbit? Because, i use sfp 100FX for gigabit ports.

Please, correct me.

Hi,

You can not connect a 100MB SFP to a 1000MB Gbic.  The speed on the fiber is fixed.  There can not be speed mismatch.

Both sides have to have the same speed.  Gig to Gig or 100 to 100..

GLC-GE-100FX will only negotiate to FULL duplex and 100 Mbps while the G5484 will only negotiate to full duplex and 1000Mbps.  You will not be able set the G5484 anything lower than 1000Mbps.
