Hi,

Unfortunately, no, that is not possible. The Ethernet operates entirely differently from a RS-232 console port, using different pins, different signals, different data organization. The integrated circuit that handles the console port operates as a RS-232 controller only, and it is not possible to switch it to Ethernet operation.

I am sorry to disappoint you.

Best regards,
Peter

Just as an aside, some devices also provide Ethernet management ports.  However, they aren't the console.

If you do need Ethernet "console" access, you can obtain that using another device.  For example, I've done that with a pair of routes that had both serial AUX ports and the console port.  I.e. connect one device's AUX to the other device's console port.  (This assuming both devices also have Ethernet connectivity.)

You might also obtain Ethernet "console" access using some form of terminal server.  I often have someone connect a PC to the device's console port, while the PC has Ethernet access, and then I remote access the PC, allowing me remote console access, using Ethernet.
