Copy IOS from WS-C3850-24XS to C3850-48U

Hello,

I have a WS-C3850-48U that I will be stacking with a WS-C3850-24XS.  The 48 port shipped off the shelf and has an older IOS than the 24XS which came from the factory so I was hoping to copy the IOS from the 24xs to the 48 port switch to get them at the same version so I can stack them and start learning how that works.  Smartnet has been purchased but I don't have the contract info yet from my purchasing agent.

The issue that I"m running into here is that there aren't any .bin files in the flash of either switch.  There are .pkg files but I can't figure out what to do with them.

Is there any way to accomplish what I'm trying to do?  All the guides that I find refer to the .bin files that I'm used to.

Thanks!

Hi,

I think you need the "bin" file from Cisco's web site, as all the other packages i.e base, driver, infra, etc.. get extracted from the bin file.

The latest version is:

cat3k_caa-universalk9.SPA.03.07.04.E.152-3.E4.bin

Talk to your sales guy or SE.  They can usually load it to a ftp site, so you can download it until the product is resisted in their system.

Thanks.  That sucks since I don't have the Smartnet contract info to register yet.
