Corrupted SD Card IOS booting (IE 4000 series)

Hi guys,

We've had an issue where an SD card has become corrupted somehow and the switch lost power.

Upon boot it accessed the SD card but then failed to boot.

My question is, does the switch attempt the internal flash if SD is not working?

Any kind of auto reboot? It seems to be virtually undocumented.

Cisco give the boot order as below, but our experience has that the device never recovered from the corrupt SD card boot.

-IOS image specified in the SD boot path

-First IOS image on SD card

-IOS image specified in flash boot path

-First IOS image on internal flash

The switch can boot off an SD or the flash.

What is the output to the command "dir flash:"?

I don't have the specific example, but there a regular IOS image on both.

I guess what I'm asking is, if the switch encounters an error while trying
to load from sdcard as the default, does it fallback to flash? Does it auto
reboot?

After I wrote this, I noticed you can stack *boot system *commands to give
a fallback order.
