CPU Load can cause input errors / overruns

Hi everyone !

I'am having problems with two 7206VXR ( NPE-400 ) routers. There is a POS interface ( 155 Mbps ) in both equipments and those interfaces are incrementing input errors / overruns. I've noted that both routers are working in high cpu average about 95 % utilization. Can these input errors / overruns are happening because the high cpu average ?

I think this message is normally seen for interface when the traffic is high and the CPU utilization reaches almost 100%. The descriptor ring gets filled up and all new packets will be dropped till the buffers in the ring are processed. Please try sh proc cpu history command.
