I have a core infrastructure network built on the 6506E chassis. I have the CEF720 8 port 10GE with DFC blades (WS-X6708-10GE). I have purchased 4 CVR-X2-SFP10G (V03) modules, and 2 of each of the SR and LR SFPs for them. What is happening is that any of the CVR-X2 modules with the SFP-10G-LR sfp inserted is not recognized (expample next shows an OK SR sfp, followed by an LR sfp):
Port Name Status Vlan Duplex Speed Type
Te1/1/7 SFP-10G-SR Mod notconnect 5 full 10G 10Gbase-SR
But none of the SFP-10G-LR modules are recognized whether in the same port or blade:
Port Name Status Vlan Duplex Speed Type
Te1/2/7 SFP-10G-LR Mod notconnect 1 full 10G unknown
I cannot find any "bug" on my CCO web. A local Cisco Gold partner says that all should work together. Cisco's web site and data sheets all say it's AOK. This is not looking good. Without the LR modules, These same blades have older CVR-X2 modules with both SR, LR and Copper 10GB sfps installed and working.
What could be going on here?

Hi Mark,
According to this link:-
Table 3

Alex,
I think you found the problem. I also found more detail showing that possibly I would need to upgrade my IOS from....
My current IOS: 12.2(33)SXI11(fc2) (s72033_rp-IPSERVICESK9_WAN-M)
Update to IOS: 12.2(33)SXJ1
I think that's a newer IOS (because SXJ... comes after SXI...).
Heres the link I found this at, way down the page under Catalyst 6xxx...
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/10GE_Tx_Matrix.html
Since I didn't mention I have a 6506E - I looked further, but it still appears to be a true statement.
