default debugging on routers/switches

Hi

When I get a new switch, can anyone tell me what kind of messages I will be getting by default, would they be informational debugs when using console etc ?

Hello Carl,

by default no debugging is active on a device.

You can check this with sh debug.

if you mean what is the severity level for syslog messages it should be 5, by default debug messages are not sent to a syslog server but only to local buffer.

By default on console session you can see any type of message.
