I am trying to upgrade a cisco nexus 5596 switch and the system has indicated insufficient space in the directory /var/tmp. a deeper look into the /var/temp has shown that smm.log file is taking most of the available space. I therefore need help from the community to:
1. understand what smm.log is/does
2. how do i delete the smm.log file from /var/tmp from this 5596 platform?

I use the filesys delete /var/tmp/smm.log (its a hidden command )to clear the smm.log file from the nexus 5596 switches and I was able to successfully execute the install all command.
it worked.
Thank you all
