DHCP - IP Helper

Hi

I have a Cisco 3750 LAN switch with Vlan x for all clients. On the same switch I have an SVI for the Vlan x using IP Helper addresses to get DHCP for clients.

However on the next hop router we also have Ip Helper addresses for DHCP.

Can you tell me which would take preference to obtain DHCP - the SVI helpers on the switch (bearing in mind that the clients and the SVI are on the same switch) or the Ip Helpers on the router ?

thanks

Hi,

Since the switch has the SVI for the vlan and the helper address, that is where all the IP address request will go.

If this is the case, you don't need a helper-address on the next hop router.
