6500/7600?
The DFC delivers local forwarding to the card. the CFC uses the main supervisor.
A sup720 provides up to 30 Mpps which would support about 10 Gbps (duplex) at 64 bytes for the whole chassis. A DFC on a CEF720 card provides 48 Mpps.

Cisco 6509
and i am talking about this module
CEF720 24 port 1000mb SFP WS-X6724-SFP
i have one with DFC (which have gone faulty) and another one in spare is having CFC card...and i am confused what to do next. whether to use CFC or ask for the DFC replacement and then use it
pls advise which one is better, and why..as i need to convince the management .

Without the DFC, all 6724 forwarding will be done on your sup720. In theory, worst case, a single 6724 could demand up to about 35 Mpps. In practice, often demand is much, much less. Whether you really need the DFC on this card depends on how busy the chassis is and what it's populated with.
If you need the ports, I would try the card with the CFC. Believe CFC can be replaced with DFC on that card.
