Differences between Essential and Advantage on Cisco Switch

Dear Community,

Kindly ask, one of my customer ask can Essential Switch become gateway or can it be core switch and running L3

I have explained to them that it can't be since essential can not run L3 Full Routing

Any suggestions are appreciated

Thank you

Best regards.

Hello @febryoponcosulistyo

Essential switches are typically designed for basic L2 functionality and lack the full L3 routing capabilities found in more advanced models. They are more suitable for access layer deployments, where their primary role is to provide connectivity to end devices. They don't have the advanced routing features needed to function as core routers or L3 switches.

If your customer requires L3 routing capabilities at the core of their network, they should consider switches from higher-tier models or series that support the necessary routing features (Network advantages).

Best regards
