does adding vpc peer-link to existing port-channel cause outage

I have 2 nexus 5ks connected together via port-channel 1.  They are not currently configured with a vpc peer-link and my customer decided they now need this function.  I want to know if I add the vpc peer-link command to both 5ks if it will cause any type of outage to the current environment? They already have vpc peer keepalive configured, I just need to add the vpc peer-link command to the current port-channel between switches.  Once this is configured I'll add the vpc ports as needed.

You should probably do this in an outage window, as once you configure the 2 switched as vPC peers, vPC will check for type-1 and type-2 inconsistencies and that can cause outage.

shoneycutt - did you ever attempt this? In the same boat.. need to convert to netapp port channels to VPC.  I think adding "VPC 20" to the port channel will definitely take down the interface.  I just need one of the links to stay up!
