Dynamically register switch hostnames on internal MS dns

I want to dynamically register my switch hostnames/ip address on our internal MS

2008 dns server.  On the switch, I have configured the name server, the domain name, and the ip host statement, but I don't see the

entries on our MS dns server, what else am I missing?

Thanks.

The Windows DNS is most likely set to only register dynamic secure updates. Meaning only members of your Active Directory environment will be allowed to dynamically update host records.

You will have to manually update the A records.

This is a DNS security setting and good one at that.
