Embedded capture packet doesn't capture any packet

Hello,

I have a Cisco IOS Software, C2960X Software (C2960X-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.0(2)EX3, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1). I would perform ECP but it doesn't capture packets.

I configured the buffer and the monitor in this way:

Capture buffer B (circular buffer)
Buffer Size : 10240000 bytes, Max Element Size : 1550 bytes, Packets : 0
Allow-nth-pak : 0, Duration : 0 (seconds), Max packets : 0, pps : 0
Associated Capture Points:
Name : CATTURAPROVA, Status : Inactive
Configuration:
monitor capture buffer B size 10000 max-size 1550 circular
monitor capture point associate CATTURAPROVA B

Status Information for Capture Point CATTURAPROVA
IPv4 CEF
Switch Path: IPv4 CEF            , Capture Buffer: B
Status : Inactive

Configuration:
monitor capture point ip cef CATTURAPROVA all both

When I start the capture, the buffer and the point become active, but the counter packets remain stucked on 0.

Do you know which is the problem? Should I write the switch configuration?

Thanks

Hi,

Have you got  SVIs or routed ports and are you passing  transit ipv4 packets through  the Switch ?

You shouldn't see any packets if your switch is acting purely layer 2 and that your SVI is for management only as you are capturing cef traffic which is transit traffic.

Regards,

Alain
