end to end vlan distribution and core configuration

I

if i have end  to end vlan in my network ; can i configure link between distribution and core layer3 or there is no way and it should be layer 2 tell core

Hi there,

It depends on the model of switch you have at the distribution layer. For example a Nexus switch which supports VXLAN would allow you to extend your VLAN over Layer3 via the core layer.

What model of switches are you using?

Core C6500 distribution C4500

The 4500 does not support VXLAN, nor other overlay technologies, OTV, L2TP.

Your only option is to trunk that VLAN through your core, or re-evaluate why you want to risk extending a Layer2 failure domain across your core switch and not implement it.
