Hi

In an etherchannel, does the port-channel need to have speed/duplex configured? eg port-channel 1.  I have already configured the physical interfaces associated with port-channel 1 with the correct speed/duplex settings.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Genrally recomendation is you should have same duplex /Speed settings in portchannel interface also because If you specify the speed and duplex setting at the port channel level, these settings pass down to the physical ports. In other words, the physical ports inherit the same speed and duplex settings as the port-channel interface.

Hope to help !!

I'd leave duplex and speed settings to auto-negotiate.

And to add to Leo and Ganesh, the port attributes are replicated from the port channel interface to the physical interface. So, any change you make on the Po interface would be absorbed by the phy ones.

Thanks
