Etherchannel Load-Balancing issue

Hi CSC,

I have configured a etherchannel and lacp and looks fine

Port-channel1 is up, line protocol is up (connected)

Hardware is EtherChannel, address is 1833.9def.3601 (bia 1833.9def.3601)

Description: INSIDE-MASTER

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 8000000 Kbit, DLY 10 usec,

reliability 255/255, txload 33/255, rxload 28/255

Members in this channel: Gi1/0/1 Gi1/0/2 Gi2/0/1 Gi2/0/2 Gi3/0/1 Gi3/0/2 Gi4/0/1 Gi4/0/2

but there is an issue at the load-balancing, interface Gi1/0/2 is prefered over the other interfaces, load-balancing method is src-mac address

GigabitEthernet1/0/1 reliability 255/255, txload 10/255, rxload 31/255

GigabitEthernet1/0/2 reliability 255/255, txload 233/255, rxload 30/255

GigabitEthernet2/0/1 reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 32/255

GigabitEthernet2/0/2 reliability 255/255, txload 11/255, rxload 30/255

GigabitEthernet3/0/1 reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 28/255

GigabitEthernet3/0/2 reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 31/255

GigabitEthernet4/0/1 reliability 255/255, txload 11/255, rxload 30/255

GigabitEthernet4/0/2 reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 33/255

there are 5 mac address at the end do of the portchannel as a sorce mac address, but after xor'ing them i found (sort of) that 2 of the macaddress should be taking the GigabitEthernet4/0/1 path.

I been thinking about some troubleshooting scenarios:

1. shutdown GigabitEthernet1/0/2

2. shu / no shu po1

3. reboot switch

Please let me know your experience and recomendations, I appreciate your help

Best Regards,

Eleazar

Does the traffic on the channel go primarily to the same MAC? If so try switching up the load balance to dest-mac, src-dest-mac, dest ip, src-i

It really depends on the traffic patterns

Thanks for the help.

Change the load-balancing method is one good option but Possibly the only options that can choose rigth now are

>1. shutdown GigabitEthernet1/0/2

>2. shu / no shu po1

>3. reboot switch

If there is recomendations or comments about doing this at portchannel, I appreciate your help

thanks for your help

I'm not sure the restriction your are running into but:

Conf t
Port-channel load-balance {src-mac | dst-mac | src-dst-mac | src-ip | dst-ip | src-dst-ip | src-port | dst-port | src-dst-port}
