Please help!!!!
My home Internet facing cisco router Cisco 2621 is running at very high CPU.
My initial reaction is "DoS attack";
however, upon careful examination, I see this:
C2621#sh flash:
System flash directory:
File Length Name/status
1 16077544 c2600-ik9o3s3-mz.123-24a.bin
[16077608 bytes used, 175316 available, 16252924 total]
16384K bytes of processor board System flash (Read/Write)
C2621#sh process cpu | i Exec
105 2223900 2176090 1021 21.43% 24.24% 24.46% 0 Exec
132 22396 2900 7722 0.07% 0.61% 1.56% 66 Virtual Exec
C2621#
In other words, the Exec process is
running at 25% cpu utilization.
I recently upgraded the router to
12.3.24a. I only have 1 telnet session
to the router. SNMP polling shows
cpu at 30% cpu utilization which traffics
is about 256k so not much.
Anyone know how to fix this? I repeatedly reboot the router but it
does not resolve the issue.

I would suspect this to be a bug, you should search the bug tool kit and maybe give TAC a call.
Here is a link for high CPU in the Exec process:

Check for bugs and also make sure you have at least 64 meg of dram which is the minimum for that version that you are running.

LOL... this IOS version won't run with
at least 64MB dRAM and that this platform
maxes out at 64MB dRAM so I am covered.
This image will not run with 48MB dRAM.
