Where is the fast cache data stored say on Cat 6509 switch? On PFC?
Also when monitoring packet through a router interface, fast cache is disable (no route-cache to turn off fast switching and turn on process switching) what is the main reason behind that? Why can packet captured using process switching? I understand the IOS archecture that when fast switching is turned , the destination interface, destination IP and MAC is cache in to a fast cache data structure (where is that stored exactly?) and the CPU is not utilizsed by the IP-INPUT process any longer unless the routing table changes!
