Flex link to end devices?

So I'm in kind of an odd situation. We're looking to provide layer 2 redundancy to a pretty dumb end device. It has 2 ports with different mac addresses. I'm hoping to have both ports assigned the same IP but then set up flex links so only one port would be online at a time.

All the documentation I have seen discusses switch to switch applications for flex links but I don't see a reason ti wouldn't work in my scenario. Just hoping someone else out there has some experience with this or has a good reason why it won't work.

Thanks,

Flex Link is an older, Cisco proprietary protocol that is only support on some Cisco platforms with specific IOS. If the end device supports link aggregation, you may want to use LACP with HA configured on the device..
