I recently purchased some ws-g5483 GBIC's from eBay, does Cisco track GBIC S/N's as far as which company they "could" have belonged to? I just want to make sure if I call into support for them that everything goes smoothly?

Cisco doesn't provide hardware support for GBIC transceivers. So they don't care about the serial numbers.

You will know when you plug them into the cisco device.
Cisco conterfeiting is very common. You need to ensure that you are purchasing from a respectable seller.
Best of luck.
I personally recommend buying GBICs brand new. They are not that much more money to begin with and they typically fail often which is why Cisco doesn't offer replacement for them.

I am concerned that I might have bought counterfits, hmm dang, I was hoping I could call Cisco to verify.
