I dont know the exact wording for the answer i am seeking or if this is the correct place it ask, so bare with me please.

----------

When we from over OS initiate a network session with a service like google.com, the OS generate a numeric value

that (from what i know) it links to the (GUI) window and the session we create so the information we request from google.com

goes to the correct window that initiated the session.

My question:

#1 How is this numeric value written in the header? Is their a specific field for this?

#2 Anyone know what RFC the above would be under?

The numeric value is not really an open port number that the OS creates a open socket for and listens on.

It's a very open question so please dont hesitate if i need to elaborate on what i mean.

Thanks on advance

Kind regards!
