glbp ping timeout

SCENARIO

-2x6509

-edge switches(3750g)connected thru fiber on both core switches. 2 fiber bundled to each core switch.

-high availability with glbp

-IP PHONES are connected to the edge switches

-from core switch 1, a pc is ddirectly connected doing a cont ping a pc connected to 1 of the edge switches. In this case, communication is disrupted on IP phones and will resume after the mentioned 6 timeouts.

OBSERVATION

-when 1 core switch goes down, there will be a consecutive 6 timeouts.

HOW CAN I REDUCE THIS TIMEOUTS.

Hi,

Hope the secnario is that you are getting 6 timed outs while doing the continous pinging and when one core switch is goes down.....

It may be due to hello and holdtime time intervals for GLBP may be at default. 3 seconds & 10 seconds.....

Rather if you set it at lesser interval using msec parameter, you may feel the lesser timeouts....

glbp timers msec msec

Since this reduction will increase the hello msgs... do with caution and understanding....
