Hi,
We inserted two GLT-C SFPs to 4500x switches. The PID of both of them are shown as "Unspecified". We have no cable connected to the GLC-T yet.
PDC-S-CORE-SW01#show inven
NAME: "Switch1 System", DESCR: "Cisco Systems, Inc. WS-C4500X-16 2 slot switch "
PID: , VID: , SN: JAExxxxxx
NAME: "TenGigabitEthernet1/1/12", DESCR: "1000BaseT"
PID: Unspecified , VID: , SN: AGM1822xxxx
NAME: "TenGigabitEthernet2/1/12", DESCR: "1000BaseT"
PID: Unspecified , VID: , SN: AGM1822xxxx
interface TenGigabitEthernet1/1/12
switchport mode trunk
switchport nonegotiate
shutdown
no cdp enable
end
PDC-S-CORE-SW01#sh run int t2/1/12
Building configuration...
Current configuration : 42 bytes
!
interface TenGigabitEthernet2/1/12
end
Anybody encountered the same problem?
Thanks.

The PID of both of them are shown as "Unspecified".
That's not important. The appliance is able to detect the serial number and that is important. GLC-T is supported on the 4500X since day 1.
We have no cable connected to the GLC-T yet.
You should be fine.

Hi Leo,
Thank you for the quick response.
Other are other SFPs just shown fine in the out put of 'show inventory',
NAME: "TenGigabitEthernet2/1/1", DESCR: "1000BaseT"
PID: GLC-T , VID: , SN: MTC1802xxx
NAME: "TenGigabitEthernet2/1/3", DESCR: "1000BaseSX"
PID: GLC-SX-MMD , VID: V01 , SN: FNS1741xxx
NAME: "TenGigabitEthernet2/1/4", DESCR: "1000BaseT"
PID: GLC-T , VID: , SN: MTC1737xxxx
NAME: "TenGigabitEthernet2/1/12", DESCR: "1000BaseT"
PID: Unspecified , VID: , SN: AGM1822xxxx
Anybody knows why this happens or point me to a Cisco source related to this outputs?
Thanks.

Ok, here's the "low down & dirty" story. Do you see that two GLC-T output you've posted? See the different (first three letters) of the serial numbers? One is "MTC" and the other is "AGM"?
Cisco DO NOT manufacture SFP. Instead, Cisco buys them from well-renown SFP manufacturers. There's a big possibility that the IDProm firmware of the "AGM" is not fully updated vs the "MTC". This is why you get more details from "MTC" GLC-T.
