Hi,
I've some questions regarding the behaviors with HA setup of 2x C9400 with ONLY single sup and some linecards per chassis.
If C9400 #1 with only ONE Sup module per chassis, forms a StackWise Virtual with another C9400 #2 also with ONE Sup module per chassis, what happens if the sup in chassis #1 fails, will the linecards in chassis #1 still in operation and being managed by the sup in chassis #2?
Or all linecards in chassis #1 fail to operate?
Hope to hear the advise from the community here.
Thanks.

no they will not!
the StackWise Virtual configuration keeps the configuration synchronized between the two chassis
and also communicates about current dataflows
But this is done from SUP to SUP, so if the SUP fails there is no processing in this chassis
you need all connected devices to have redundant connection to both chassis,
so each device on it's own can switch over using the link to the other chassis
so it is also advised to have the same (amount/model) physical linecards available in both chassis

the LC connect via internal fabric this fabric is in SUP so when you SUP is failed in one chassis all LC in that chassis will down
that why cisco recommend using dual SUP in one chassis
