Could someone please help me spec a switch with the following features?
- Protocols: TCP/IP, EtherNet/IP, DHCP, BOOTP , IGMP, SMTP, STP, RSTP,MSTP, PVST+, VTP, SNMP, NTP
- 48 ports (2 multimode Gb fiber ports)
- 36 devices need 10/100 speed (RJ45 connectors).
- Rack mount design.
- IP rating: this is not important. The switch will be stored in an appropriate/safe enclosure.
- No Poe ports.
Scenario: 3 industrial production lines. 12 devices per line. They are all in the same subnet/VLAN.
Network is isolated from the business network.
Would you recommend using a few smaller switches instead of 1 larger switch? Why?
Thank you in advance!

Cat 1000 also part of this deal.
you want to save cost you can Look Cat 29XX seriest also.
If you looking Small end switches SG

Depends on requirement, if you put all eggs in basket risk is high, compare to spreading eggs in to different basket.

What is budget?
This can be done with a Catalyst 1000.
