Hi,
I am needing to expand a proof-of-concept system that sends scientific data as multicast messages at the full line speed of a 10gb connection. There are currently two rack computers with Intel X520-DA2 10Gbe cards, connected with a direct attach cable. Now I want to add a third machine, so need to purchase a switch. Everything will live in the same rack, and I won't have a use for very many more ports on the switch (not more than 6). I just need it to intelligently handle the routing of multicast messages (IGMP snooping).
I would appreciate advice on what switch to buy, plus any other add-ons I might need. My experience is in software development instead of networking, so I'm out of my element when it comes to selecting the appropriate hardware.
Thanks for your help.
Bruce
