Help with express setup IE 2000 8tc-g

I'm setting up a network with an IE2000 and started following the express setup guide.

I got stuck at step 6 "When the Setup LED turns solid green, start a browser session on the PC. A login prompt appears."

The login prompt never appeared. I tried both firefox and internet explorer. I made sure adblocker was disabled as well as any proxy settings. I was plugged thru my PC Ethernet port (configured as DHCP) directly to the switch's port 1 which had a flashing LED as per the setup instructions.

After trying for a while I got creative and used TIA Portal (Siemens PLC and general automation software) to view devices in my network by their MAC address and was able to set the IP address for the switch. I gave my PC a static address in that subnet. With that I used my browser to go to the switches address and I finally got the login prompt. However, I used the default password of step 7: "Leave the username blank and enter the default password, cisco. Note: The switch ignores text in the username field. The Express Setup window appears." However the default password didn't work.

Thinking that I was better off resetting to factory settings and trying from the start by following the same express setup guide:

"To reset the switch: Step 1Press and hold the Express Setup button for about 10 seconds. The switch reboots. The system LED turns green after the switch completes rebooting. Step 2Press the Express Setup button again for 3 seconds. A switch 10/100 Ethernet port blinks green."

When I press the Express setup button for about 4 seconds the EXP LED flashes red for a few seconds and then it goes out. I've held the button for 10+ seconds and I can never get the switch to reboot nor can I get the switch back into express setup mode.

That being said and done, is there a way to know what the password to log onto the switch is or to reset to factory settings?
