High CPU usage on Cisco 3560 and Cisco 2960

Hey Cisco guys,

I'm having issue with one stubborn process that is consuming nearly all the CPU on all of my switches. I tried googling it, but had no luck. Maybe y'all can help me?

The process is "hulc nrgyz PD di"

I have no idea what anything after the hulc means.

Thanks much!

Hi David,

Process hulc nrgyz PD di is EnergyWise PD discovery process. If you are experiencing high cpu utiliaztion verify you are not hitting the following bug:

CSCth62705    EnergyWise PD discovery process caused CPU high.

Symptom:

The  switch experiences high CPU usage when new domain members or EnergyWise  capable endpoints with a different EnergyWise domain are added to a  existing domain and EtherChannel is configured.

Conditions:

A  combination of cross domain traffic introduced via a endpoint or domain  member and Etherchannel configuration between a access and distribution  switch that has EnergyWise enabled at both ends is necessary to  reproduce the problem.

Workaround:

The workaround would be to disable the port channel in the case where the high CPU usage is seen.

Here you can read more information on EnergyWise features:
