How to Abort Traceroute Execution?

Hi,

     How can I abort the traceroute execution, when the IP route fails somewhere?

Type escape sequence to abort.
Tracing the route to 10.6.177.68

  1 10.148.50.73 4 msec
    10.148.64.1 4 msec
    10.148.50.73 4 msec
  2 10.148.65.1 4 msec 4 msec 8 msec
  3  *  *  *
  4  *  *  *
  5  *  *  *

CTRL+SHIFT (together) and the number 6.  Sometimes you have to hit 6 repeatedly.  It will abort but you have to catch it early in the process.   I have found that after traceroute has completed three processes, the command won't take.

I had tried earlier also; and now as suggested, early in the process. Still its not stopping.

Ctrl + Shift + 6 shoul work as Jonathan said. But rather try this one.

Sorry Guys,

its not working. Earlier when I googled, I got the same solution. From that time onwards I am trying this, but no way out.

Faisal, as suggested I tried a few times just now, still the problem stand still.

Any other Idea??

Hi,

Try holding down ctrl+shift and then hit '6' and 'x' same time couple of times. Make sure the mouse courser stays with in

router/switch session.

     Ctrl + Shift + 6 or Ctrl + Shift + 6+x didnt worked on my PC.

But Ctrl+C+6 worked !!

I donno whether it depends on the keyboard or something, but it worked !!

Know this thread is old but Ctrl+c+6 worked on the emulator provided by Cisco (thank goodness :)

Both the following work for me (with PuTTY to the console of a 1921) : CTL + 6, CTL + SHIFT + 6

CTRL + c + 6 also appears to work, but CTRL + c by itself does nothing.
