How to check Bugs/Vulnerablity in IOS image

Hello,

Current I am using 3750(in stacking) and 4506 switches in network, we are planning to upgarde the IOS. so can any one suggest me latest relevant IOS resp.

One more question, how to chek bugs/ vulnerablities in current and updated IOS image? is there any tool..?

If there is no bugs in current IOS then is there any necessity of upgrading the same..? or after upgrading any chances of creating problem.

Please find below switch details.

SwitchCisco 3750WS-C3750E-24TD-Ec3750e-universalk9-mz.122-35.SE5.bin

\Switch

Cisco 4506 EWS-C4506-Ecat4500e-ipbasek9-mz.122-40.SG.bin

Thanks in advance..!!!

Cisco have a bug toolkit that you can use to check bugs in software release although you need a CCO login to use it -

http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/action.do?hdnAction=searchBugs

To check the latest IOS release go to the Product pages for switches -

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/switches/products.html

then select your switch. This will take to you a main page where there is "Support" box - see attached screenshot. From here you can check the release notes for each software release and download software.

Finally as to whether to upgrade. Well if it's working and you are not facing any bugs for what you use and you don't need any new features then sometimes it's better to stay with what you havw got. There will always b be bugs in all IOS releases it more a question of whether they affect the features you are trying to use.

If you do decide to upgrade then going for the last one but release is usually a good strategy but obviously you need to check the release notes/bug toolkit for any major bugs that would affect you.
