I tried upgrading CISCO 4507R switch Image. Because of corrupted image, the IOS is not booting. Now I want to delete the existing corrupted image and need to push the correct IOS image via xmodem as other options(usb , mgt) didnt helped. Please tell me, how to delete the corrupted ios image which exists in flash memory via ROMon mode.

Switch Model: 4507R

Sup: 6E

Note: delete command is not showing in this ROMon while I tyoe help.

I think delete should have been there. By the way, why you want to delete it? Check the space of the flash and I hope it has enough free to hold another one. If so please load another one and boot that image.

If none works, try getting a flash card and use that.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Madhu

Hi,

I dont have enough memory in flash memory as the existing corrupted imaged occupied most of the space.

While doing Xmodem transfer, will it overwrite the existing corrupted image?

Another option is to boot from a tftp server from within ROMMON mode.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/switches/catalyst-4000-series-switches/17052-26.html#cat4k_rec

This will get you back up and running, then you can copy the ios to flash without being in rommon mode.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

TFTP via Management port is not working correctly. Please suggest. I have done the following things.

Given IP to laptop: 10.0.0.1/8

default gateway for laptop: 10.0.0.2(switch IP)

IP given to switch via rommon: 10.0.0.2/8

deault gateway for switch : 10.0.0.1(laptop IP)

TFTP IP: 10.0.0.1(laptop IP, as the TFTP server is running in the laptop)

Now If I boot the switch via TFTP server, it is getting failed.

Can you ping the switch from your laptop?
