Hi,
Have 3 switches in a stack, I know the passwords just prepping to hand over to other company
Just looking to verify this is what is needed:
Log on to primary switch
Switch# write erase
Switch# delete flash:vlan.dat
Switch# reload
Can I also do this from the web interface?
Thanks,
Rick

Switch# write erase
Switch# delete flash:vlan.dat
Switch# reload
Are the switches in production when they are to be factory-reset?

No, they will be taken out of Production.
Thanks

No, they will be taken out of Production.
If they are to be taken out of production and subject for disposal, I always recommend "format flash:".
This is because some people would create files and leave it in the flash.

sorry for any confusion.
I am not disposing of them. They will be going back into production, I just need to clear config first

Switch# write erase
Switch# delete flash:vlan.dat
Switch# reload
In that case, this process will suit fine.
Also check that the switches are renumbered to "1" after the reload.

Will the other 2 switches be cleared as well since they are stacked?
How do I check the number?
Thanks

I'd break the stack first before attempting to do any factory reset.
Check the switch stack number by looking at the "sh ip interface brief" and see what numbers they are. It's easy to reset that to "1" by issuing the command "switch <NUMBER> renumber 1" and then reloading.
