Hi guys,

I have a site with a WS-C4507R+E running with a single WS-X45-SUP8-E card.

I am getting a secondary card for redundancy. How do I add it in without any major disruption?

Hello,

anything on the 4500-E series  is hot swappable, so you can install it without interruption:

All Catalyst 4500 E-series switches support hot swapping, which lets you install, remove, replace, and rearrange supervisor engines and switching modules without powering the system off. When the system detects that a switching module has been installed or removed, it runs diagnostic and discovery routines automatically, acknowledges the presence or absence of the module, and resumes system operation with no operator intervention.

Nexus 5000 is NOT compatible with the Sup8E line card for the 4500R+E chassis.

Make sure you read the Release Notes carefully.
Supervisor cards need to be installed in very specific slot.
Make sure the supervisor card is loaded with the same IOS-XE version as the primary card.
