Hi,
Select SSH, then you have to put IP address of device and port (default 22) you are trying to connect.
Hope it will help.

From what device to which are you trying to connect? Is it a network device? Does it support SSH?

Im trying to connect to my local computer that im sitting at now. I want to be able to get onto my computer and then use ssh to connect to my routers.

Basically im pulling up Teraterm, clicking on tcp/ip and then typing in my ip address(the one i see in ipconfig) and then its saying connection refused. Is this something i can't do? I thought i would be able to use the terminal to then ssh into my routers from my computer.

If I understood you correctly, you run ipconfig on your computer to see IP address of your default gateway then trying to connect to it with Teraterm? If yes, then just IP address of DG in teraterm SSH and connect. If cannot connect try to ping it. If it is pingable then first try to connect through Telnet perhaps SSH not enabled at all on router. Or there could be an ACL that maight be blocking.

Hi,
Can you ping from PC to router? Kindly post your router config (remove sensitive data) and output of 'telnet ROUTER_IP 22' from your PC.

Are you running the correct Tera term version? You have to have the specific TT version that actually supports SSH . If you have the standard version you would only be able to telnet to devices . If you are getting connection refused it sounds like it's using normal telnet and not SSH . Check to make sure your TT version actually supports the SSH function, there is a difference.

Wow, yesterday i sat here all day and over thought everything. Right before bed, i think before 2am, i realized i don't use SSH to get into my "local" computer, if i needed to do that, i would just go to my CMD and do what i needed or use my networking tools to change the things i needed too. I guess i just overloaded my brain. My version is fine and its because i have these three routers and three switches, and im sure the routers are not set up correctly is why im having problems with my default gateway SSH (issue). Im going to focus today and run through labs and just stick with the "program". You have all been so helpful and just went to bed realizing wow i need a break, but im back at it today all day again. Im still having problems finding my IP address of my TFTP server, which im using certificationkits tftp server. If anyone knows how i figure that out.
