HP SFPs in Nexus switches

Folks

I've been asked whether we can use HP-branded 10G SFP+s (P/N 455885-001) in Nexus 2Ks to provide 10G connections to HP C-Class enclosures.  We've used HP-branded twinax, and Cisco-branded SFP+s and twinax, but we have a raft of HP 10G SFP+s sat in a store room gathering dust and now we want to save some money by not having to buy the Cisco parts to match.

Any experiences?

Cheers, Daren.

Daren,

In theory if SFP+ have the same physical/electrical characteristics it should work. We have not qualified any 3rd party SFP's on our N2K's but it might be worth trying. You can run a command on N5K, " service unsupported-transceiver" to help you. But it would be just 1% chance that the SFP would work on N2k. Let us know if that works.

Cheers, amit Singh
