Hello,
Does the standby group number need to be the same on both the primary and backup routers for it to work properly?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello,
you can configure more than one HSRP group on an interface ("MHSRP") but only matching groups will form Active/Standby-pairs among routers. The Group ID will be part of the virtual MAC address of the Active router and host on the segement use this vMAC to encapsulate traffic sent to their default-gateway.

The timers do not necessarily have to match but it is highly recommended to keep such parameters consistent.

Aside from the group numbers that should match on both routers, should other parameters like timers should match as well for HSRP to work properly?
