I just need to find out if the Cisco 3945 router requires any licence for it to run HSRP. Also advise which IOS runs HSRP on the 3845 router.

Hello, you do not need a license to enable HSRP on the 3945 router. It is included in the universal IP BASE package that is default.
With regards to the 3845 just a basic IP BASE image will support this. Please find attached spreadsheets for both to see which IOS software image and feature set you will require.
Hope this helps

Most common issues i've seen people facing on ISR G2 like 3900 is the unavailbility of configuring IP SLA especically in HSRP scenarios. If you come across this then remember that for IP SLA on 3900/2900/1900 you need a data k9 license. You can check the license you've in show ver.
