HSRP Setup

I currently have a Cisco 2901 and am using 2 gig e interfaces. The first interface is connected to a single office network. The second has 4 sub-interface VLANs. I am adding a second 2901 and setting up HSRP. I have configured the HSRP for the single network connection. Do I need to setup HSRP on all of the sub-interfaces as well? I need all of the sub-interfaces to continue communicating to the office network if one of the routers goes down.

Yes if you want backup for all the vlans defined on those subinterfaces then you must have an equivalent on the other router .

I have put the same settings for the VLANs in both routers. For example:

router1: gige 0/0.10 192.168.1.1/24

router2: gige 0/0.10 192.168.1.1/24

Do I need to change that to the HSRP setup where 192.168.1.1 is virtual and router1 and router2 each have their own physical address (.2 & .3)?

You should not have the same setting for the vlans in both routers. You should change to the HSRP config where 192.168.1.1 is the shared virtual address and each router has its own unique IP address on the interface.

Thanks. I'll give that a go.
