I've looked up the Cisco document, but I don't understand the role that process plays.

I would like to know more about the role of the pktmgr / netstack process.

Let me know.

see the other post.

Thank you.

But I saw the document.

I don't understand.

Can you tell me more about it?

Hello Kwon, hi Reza,

Please allow me to join.

The pktmgr and netstack are software networking drivers running as separate processes.

The pktmgr process is a lower layer driver that reads all incoming frames punted to the supervisor, and dispatches their contents to appropriate drivers depending on the EtherType or DSAP/SSAP values in the frame - so that IPv4 packets are processed by the IPv4 driver, IPv6 packets are processed by IPv6 driver, STP BPDUs are processed by the STP process, and so on.

The netstack process is a TCP/IP driver in particular - it handles the IP traffic forwarded to the supervisor.

I hope this helps a little - please feel welcome to ask further!

Best regards,
Peter
