ICMP redirect feature enabled on 4507, but not working, made the ping loss

Hi All,

Recently we replaced the C3850 stack with C4507 SUP-8E, and keeps configuration identical. But we found that ICMP redirect feature enabled on 4507, but not working, made the ping loss to anther subnet through another 4507. But if we specify the host with static route directly, then no packets loss reported.

The version for SUP-8E is 03.06.06E. We tried to capture the icmp redirect packet on hosts, but nothing received from the 4507.

Please review the diagram for details, and kindly advice.

Hello Nio,

This seems to be somewhat surprising. Do you think you could share the following outputs from the newly added 4507 switch? Of course please remove passwords and other sensitive information.

show running-config
show ip interface
show ip route
show ip cef

In addition, do you believe it would be possible for you to try running debug ip icmp on the 4507 while sending the packets from 10.10.63.5 to 10.20.0.1? I would like to see if the 4507 even has any signs of sending out those ICMP Redirect messages.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Peter
